The Madeira Mandolin Orchestra presents a classical concert, part of their 2026/2027 Artistic Season. The ORQUESTRA DE BANDOLINS DA MADEIRA, founded in Funchal on February 18, 1913, is recognised as one of Europe's oldest and youngest mandolin orchestras.
Comprising around 30 musicians aged 13 to 46, and with artistic director André Martins, the orchestra features programs of classical music adapted for mandolin, interpreting classics by composers like Kètèlbey and Vivaldi. The orchestra works to preserve and disseminate the history of the mandolin in Madeira.
The performance takes place in the Salão Nobre Da Assembleia Legislativa Da Madeira, a grand hall decorated with 18th and 19th-century French pieces and a gilded, painted stucco ceiling. It starts at 9pm and tickets are €30.
