John T. Gast A conduit for endless transformation, the British artist has been a constant presence on the avant-garde fringes of London’s electronic music scene. True to his personal anonymity and his distancing from the media, his name has taken on the air of an urban legend amidst the most impenetrable depths of contemporary electronic music. Whilst artists such as Actress, Dean Blunt, Delroy Edwards, Burial and The Caretaker may also move through similar territories, the truth is that Gast has already carved out a unique imaginary space, intrinsic to his own artistic quest. Drawing on post-punk, hip hop, techno, dub, industrial, ambient and countless other sonic territories in a way that is unmistakably his own, his work reveals a brilliant consistency.
